Tim Lacey, Global Vice President & General Manager – Performance Building Solutions and Corian(R) Design of DuPont received a volunteer of the year award from Midland County Habitat for Humanity. The award was recognized at the Habitat for Humanity of Michigan (HFHM) at its Annual Affiliates in Motion Conference, on October 25, 2022.
Each year Habitat for Humanity of Michigan takes the opportunity to recognize outstanding volunteers, partners, and homeowners nominated by their local affiliates. Four award categories honor the hard work, dedication, and significant accomplishments of individuals and organizations that have advanced the mission of Habitat for Humanity. Nominations are made by the local affiliates and submitted to Habitat for Humanity of Michigan.
Tim Lacey was nominated by MCHFH as the Volunteer of the Year for his commitment and dedication to helping build energy efficient and affordable housing with Habitat. Tim Lacey is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Midland County Habitat for Humanity (MCHFH) and serves on the Housing Committee.
“Tim represents what it means to give back to his community.” Said Jennifer Chappel, CEO and President of Midland County Habitat for Humanity (MCHFH). “Tim volunteers his time and expertise on the MCHFH Board of Directors, advocates for affordable housing and energy efficiency technologies, and volunteers to build affordable homes in our community. Tim is helping to foster energy efficient, affordable housing in Midland County through his passion and volunteerism.”
Lacey serves on the Housing Committee which was key in planning and implementing the multifamily homes recently built by MCHFH. Historically, MCHFH has built 1 – 3 single family homes a year. To grow their impact and help revitalize area neighborhoods, they expanded their mission to construct new, multifamily housing in addition to single-family homes. “Tim’s involvement with the planning and development of the multifamily build was invaluable. He has market and industry knowledge that was crucial to the construction of the homes. His expertise in energy efficiency and design will make these homes the most energy efficient homes MCHFH has ever constructed. Owners of these homes will not only benefit from living in warmer and more efficient homes, but also from paying lower energy bills providing homeowners with the ability to have quality living conditions and greater comfort. This improves the homeowner’s lives and the lives of their families. Tim is very generous in volunteering his expertise and we are grateful he is generous in volunteering his time and knowledge.” Said Chappel
“This is a special and unexpected honor,” states Lacey. “I am thrilled to live in a community where we have the resources to support and uplift neighbors, it is crucial to the development and expansion of the communities in which we live. Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to live and when individuals and families have shelter, they have the ability to thrive.”
