Position: Marketing and Events Manager

Reports to:  President/CEO

Time Requirements: Full-Time, Exempt (Salary)

Time Requirements: Full-time (40 hours weekly); the typical workweek is Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends.

Salary: $60,000 annually

Organization Description

Midland County Habitat for Humanity is a local, independently operated affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, located in Midland, Michigan. It is a dynamic nonprofit organization that works to provide affordable homeownership opportunities and home repairs to low—to moderate­ income individuals and families in Midland County.

Position Overview

Midland County Habitat for Humanity (MCHFH) is seeking an innovative, highly organized, and mission-driven Marketing & Events Manager to lead the organization’s marketing, communications, public relations, brand awareness, and event strategy. Working closely with the President & CEO, this position develops and implements a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that advances the organization’s Strategic Plan, strengthens community partnerships, increases volunteer and donor engagement, and supports fundraising through compelling storytelling and impactful events.

This role is responsible for planning and executing marketing campaigns, managing digital and print communications, creating engaging content, overseeing media and public relations, coordinating signature fundraising and community events, and ensuring a consistent and compelling brand presence across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop marketing plans and promotional timelines for all major events.
  • Create event branding, sponsorship materials, invitations, signage, presentations, and digital marketing assets.
  • Coordinate event communications across social media, email marketing, the website, print materials, and media outlets.
  • Promote Framing Our Future, House Party, Women Build, Rock the Block, Groundbreakings, Home Dedications, Volunteer Appreciation events, and ReStore promotions.
  • Manage online event registration platforms and event webpages.
  • Coordinate photography and videography before, during, and after events.
  • Support sponsor recognition and fulfillment of marketing benefits.
  • Assist with registration materials, signage, presentations, volunteer communications, and promotional displays.
  • Develop post-event thank-you campaigns, sponsor recognition, impact stories, and event recaps.
  • Track event marketing metrics and maintain the annual organizational marketing and events calendar.

Strategic Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and implement an annual marketing and communications plan aligned with the Strategic Plan.
  • Maintain Habitat brand standards across all communications.
  • Create annual marketing calendars supporting organizational priorities.
  • Develop campaigns supporting homeownership, volunteer recruitment, ReStore promotions, fundraising, and corporate partnerships.
  • Collaborate with staff to market all organizational programs.

Digital Marketing

Manage the website, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and email marketing. Create content calendars, publish stories, manage analytics, develop graphics and video, and oversee paid campaigns when appropriate.

Storytelling & Content Development

Capture photography and video, develop homeowner and volunteer stories, create annual impact reports, maintain a digital media library, and highlight Habitat’s mission through engaging content.

Public Relations

Serve as the media liaison by preparing press releases, coordinating interviews, developing media relationships, preparing presentations, and increasing earned media coverage.

Fundraising & Event Marketing Support

Support the planning, promotion, and successful execution of fundraising and community engagement events through strategic marketing, communications, and event coordination.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field; minimum three years of professional experience; excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills. Preferred experience includes nonprofit marketing, WordPress, Canva/Adobe Creative Suite, CRM software, photography/videography, and email marketing.
