Midland 100 Club Donates to Midland County Habitat for Humanity

Midland County Habitat for Humanity (MCHFH) is excited to announce that is has received donations of household items from the Midland 100 Club to support affordable housing in Midland County. The 100 Club held a signature Curbside Giving drive at their January 20233 meeting inviting members to drop off donated items to the Midland County Habitat for Humanity ReStore on their way into the meeting.
Habitat ReStores are home improvement stores and resale centers that sell donated new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. The ReStore is a non-profit thrift store and donation center with two purposes: to provide great deals and help families in Midland County access affordable homeownership.
When items are donated, they make a positive impact on solving the affordable housing crisis. The Midland County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is the store that builds homes and hope!
Habitat ReStores are independently owned reuse stores operated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations. ReStores accept donations and sell a constantly changing inventory of diverse, high-quality merchandise to the public at a fraction of the retail price while diverting reusable household items and building materials from area landfills. Sales of donated items help Habitat for Humanity partner with local families to build, rehabilitate and repair safe and affordable homes in Midland County.
The Midland 100 Club members donated houseware items, small appliances, artwork, cash donations, and more. “The support of the Midland 100 Club is so inspiring” said Jennifer Chappel, President and CEO of Midland County Habitat for Humanity. “When people donate and shop at the ReStore it starts a chain reaction of community investment that will make an impact in our community. The donations from the Midland 100 Club will provide inventory for the ReStore. Proceeds from the sale of these items are then used to support Habitat’s mission of providing homes for sale and home repairs for low to moderate income individuals and families throughout Midland County. This helps reduce blight, increases affordable housing, creates stability for the homeowners, and strengthens neighborhoods. Again, this chain reaction of community investment is only possible when the community shops, donates, and volunteers at the ReStore. Our sincere thanks to the Midland 100 Club for supporting this initiative.”
Midland 100 Club Chair Tina Van Dam added, “Curbside Giving supplements the cash contributions made by the generous women of the 100 Club. Since we are gathering in person for a meeting, why not ask our membership to bring items of use to designated partnering organizations? It is such an easy but effective way to extend our efforts to support the important work of local charitable groups like Midland County Habitat for Humanity.”
