Midland County Habitat For Humanity (MCHFH) has partnered with the Priority Home Repair program and was able to replace a roof for a family in the Coleman area.

 

Many low to moderate income families occupy homes and spaces that are in urgent need of costly critical repairs. These repairs can cause safety and health issues to the family. With financial support from Consumers Energy​ and Michigan State Housing Development Authority​, Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the state of Michigan received funding to partner with these families through the Priority Home Repair program.

The Priority Home Repair program allows MCHFH to work with low and moderate income homeowners to address critical repair needs.  Many low to moderate income families occupy homes that are in urgent need of expensive critical repairs, such as a roof replacement.  These repairs can cause many health risks to the families and make the home unsafe to live in.  Through the Priority Home Repair program we partner with home owners who need home repairs that will alleviate critical health, life, and safety issues and allow them to maintain their homes.

MCHFH is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Midland County Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.  Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

The home in Coleman had a major roof leak that was causing damage to the ceiling inside the home.  Through the Priority Home Repair we were able to hire a licensed contractor to replace the roof, taking unnecessary stress off the homeowner.  The homeowner was overjoyed with the repair saying, “God heard my prayers and lifted this worry off of my shoulders”.
