Midland County Habitat for Humanity Celebrates 100th Home Build at House Party 2026

MIDLAND, MI – Midland County Habitat for Humanity (MCHFH) and the Greater Michigan Construction Academy (GMCA) are joining forces once again for House Party: A Party with a Purpose on Thursday, September 10, 2026. This year’s event marks a major milestone for Habitat as the organization celebrates the construction of its 100th home in Midland County and the ninth home built in collaboration with GMCA students.
The annual House Party raises awareness and funding for affordable housing in Midland County while bringing the community together for an evening of food, drinks, music, entertainment and friendly competition.
“This is such a meaningful milestone for Midland County Habitat for Humanity,” said Jennifer Chappel, chief executive officer of Midland County Habitat for Humanity. “Reaching our 100th home is a testament to what can happen when a community comes together around a shared purpose. Celebrating that milestone with our ninth collaboration with GMCA makes it even more special.”
MCHFH and GMCA will partner to build the 100th home before it is moved to its final location. MCHFH provides the materials and construction support, while GMCA students gain valuable hands-on experience as they help construct the home. The collaboration gives students an opportunity to develop real-world construction skills while contributing directly to affordable housing in their community.
House Party 2026 will also feature the return of one of the event’s most popular attractions: the Battle of the Bartenders.
Local bartenders will face off in a friendly competition to raise the most money in support of affordable housing. Guests can cheer on their favorite team and contribute to their fundraising campaign throughout the event. The team that raises the most money will take home the coveted House Party Bartender Battle Champion title.
In addition to the Bartender Battle, the House Party will feature live entertainment, food and drinks, a silent auction, a raffle, and a 50/50 drawing. Attendees will also have the opportunity to see the GMCA student-built home in progress and learn more about the impact of the partnership.
House Party: A Party with a Purpose will be held Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 4:30-8 p.m. at the Greater Michigan Construction Academy (GMCA). Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at midlandhabitat.org/house-party/.
