Housing is about more than homes

Throughout the interview, Jennifer discusses our role in creating opportunities for individuals and families through affordable housing and homeownership. The conversation highlights how housing stability affects not only households, but also the strength of neighborhoods, employers, and the broader community.

As housing challenges continue to affect communities across Michigan (and the nation), expanding access to affordable housing remains an important part of building a community where people can live, work, and thrive.

Leadership through partnership

A recurring theme throughout the discussion is the importance of collaboration.

Whether through volunteers, donors, local employers, government partners, or organizations like the Alden B. Dow Home and Studio, Habitat’s work is made possible through people coming together around a shared goal: strengthening the community through housing. That spirit of partnership remains at the core of everything we do.

Building what comes next

The interview also highlights the momentum behind several initiatives currently underway, including the Humanity Street Neighborhood Development and ongoing efforts to preserve and expand affordable housing opportunities throughout Midland County.

These projects represent more than construction. They are creating new opportunities for homeownership, strengthening neighborhoods, and helping ensure Midland remains a place where people can live, work, and thrive.
