101 Things That Can Be Decluttered In Your Home

It is a new year and a new way of organizing your home has evolved, the KonMari method.  Konmari is a play on works of Marie Kondo’s name.  According to Wikipedia, Marie Kondo is a Japanese organizing consultant and author.  She has written four books and has a new Netflix show called “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo”.  She has inspired a new wave of minimizing clutter and “choosing joy” in the items people keep.

Many blogs have created lists to help with the decluttering method like this one and a quick Google search brings up 100s of blog posts striving to help people with the act of decluttering their homes.  This has sparked a wave of increased donations for nonprofit shops across the country.

To help ease the confusion of what items you are able to donate to the Midland County Habitat for Humanity ReStore, we have created this helpful list of items that we will accept.  So while decluttering and starting the new year with new resolutions, be sure to consider donating your items to MCHFH ReStore.  Also when getting your tax return and using it to upgrade your home or furniture, you can often donate the old items to the ReStore and we even offer to pick up large items. Call the ReStore to schedule a pick up 989-835-6265.

How does the ReStore work? Individuals and businesses donate merchandise and building materials to the ReStore. Habitat employees and volunteers process the donations, stock and organize the store and assist customers with questions and purchases. In return, the community receives terrific bargains at the ReStore. Profits go back in the Midland County Habitat for Humanity to help build and revitalize homes for low-income families in Midland County.
